Video and phone interviews have quickly become the new normal when it comes to job searching.  While video interviews do offer a great way to still learn more about the job opportunity as well as the interviewer and people you will be working with, there still is an element that is often missing!  What is it?  Exploring your new prospective office and getting a sense of what the environment is like.  

Further, as a candidate, it can be very difficult to make a connection or get the awe moment of knowing that a job opportunity and company is right for you when you can’t even step foot in the office.  Most people we speak with know an opportunity is right for them when they can envision themselves working in that office.  Looking at that window, sitting at that desk, getting to know those people.  

But, with all of these video interviews and phone interviews taking place, imaging this, becomes extremely difficult.  So, what do you do to fill this in? 
If you are exploring new opportunities and you feel like you have found that next great job, but need that extra connection of seeing yourself in the office, ask your interviewer or potential employer for either a virtual tour of the office or to send you some photos of the office.  This is a great way to see what type of environment you will be walking into and further, it may give you that little extra nudge you needed to know that THIS opportunity is the one for you!
We have coached a number of our candidates to ask for this as they are going through the interview process.  We have also encouraged the firms and companies that we are working with to offer this to candidates they are particularly keen on.
